Project 365: Week 2

Two weeks successfully completed. I’m on a roll! Not only have I kept on track with grabbing a photo every day, I’ve also dramatically cut down my Pepsi intake since the beginning of the year. I’ve allowed myself only ONE per day. It seems like the worst of the caffeine withdrawal is behind me – no more headaches and fantasies of rage-stabbing passersby. But I digress. Here’s the week 2 photo recap.

Project 365: Week 1

It’s a new year, again, (funny how that keeps happening) and I’m attempting Project 365, again. I think this is the year that I make past February. Really. If you’re not familiar with P365 allow me to enlighten you. In it’s most simple incarnation, the project is to take a photo day. My personal goal is to a.) get more practice with my camera and b.) capture and record a glimpse of my family’s life every single day.

Here’s where I’m at with week one.

I just got back from a two-ish week trip to Colorado for my sister’s wedding, and I am TIRED! 1100 miles is a long way to travel with my dear family…but it was worth it to be a part of my little sister’s big day! The day was amazing and I wanted share a few pics.

After moving in just over two years ago, I have officially painted every room in the house. Colors, patterns, art, and photos consume every wall in this place, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Here’s a peek at what things look like right now.

I’ll admit that it’s a good feeling to have stamped this house with my taste…but what will I obsess over now that I’ve completed the rooms? Oh, yeah. The front porch. Wait until you see what I plan to paint there.

Almost Crafty: Project “Poke the Wall”

I’ve been feeling antsy lately. I spend a great deal of time in my living room, which is home to the TV, Wii, comfy couch, and (most importantly) my computer. Because so many items reside in this one room (and because the fireplace seems to be stationary in its awkward position) there’s not much I can to do to rearrange the room for a new look. What I CAN change is what’s on the walls. Behold, project “poke the wall.”

After spending several hours scouring my hard drive for photos I love, I brought them into Photoshop and processed, cropped, and resized them to 7×7 inches. I printed them on 8.5×11 glossy photo paper and trimmed the prints to 8.5×8.5. Next was the tedious part – a laser level, yard stick, pencil, and 96 straight pins (enter the phrase “poke the wall”) got these babies up on the wall. I have to say, I can’t stop looking at it. Big impact for very little dough…definitely my kind of project.
